Career To Date

Current Position : Contract Associate for a Clinical Research company

Sept 2006-Feb 2007 : Queen Mary Certificate in IP course, which I have now completed (and passed).

Jan 2006-Sept 2006 : Short-term patent trainee at Sagittarius IPC Ltd. This is a small firm that specialises in pharmaceutical and biotechnology patents.

Oct 2002-Oct 2005 : PhD in Bioinformatics (Computational Genetics) at Edinburgh University. The title for the thesis is "Computational Analyses of A-I RNA Editing". My individual projects included the identification of transcription factor binding sites, putative RNA editing sites and prioritisation of candidate disease genes (see the Publications below for details). I was based at the MRC Human Genetics Unit, under the supervision of Dr. Colin Semple.

2001-2002 : MRes in Human Genetics at the MRC Human Genetics Unit. Distinction awarded.

1998-2001 : BA in Natural Sciences, specialising in Genetics, at Cambridge University (Peterhouse college). 2.1 Awarded.
Included modules in pharmacology, biochemistry, chemistry, mathematics and geology.

1997-1998 : Gap Year working as a trainee Nuclear Waste Disposal Process Designer with AEA Technology, near Oxford.

1992-1997 : Bloxham School, Oxfordshire. Five A-Level grade ‘A’s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths and General Studies. GCSE’s; 6A*’s, 3A’s, 1B (including A*'s in French & German).
